Lucky

It was May 18, 2024 when Kareema – the manager of the catrescue – was already busy in front of ‘the haven’ from 6 am.

When Kareema was driving home in the evening, suddenly several cars stopped in front of her, she saw a small kitten sitting under one of the cars and stopped her car too.

After chasing the kitten back and forth across the road for about 15 minutes, the kitten hid in the engine compartment of a car.

Luckily, the car driver waited patiently until Kareema was able to get the kitten out of the engine about 30 minutes later. Kareema took the little kitten home and later took him to ‘the haven’ where the kitten was aptly named Lucky by his first sponsor.

Lucky is estimated to be about 1 year old, his estimated date of birth is around March 2025. Lucky is missing a piece of his right ear, fortunately he is not bothered by this at all.

Like all SHE cats, Lucky has had his vaccinations. This against common cat diseases and rabies. He is also chipped and has had a deworming and anti-flea treatment. Lucky is neutered and also litter-box trained.

Lucky is ready to pack his bags and move to his forever home.

Lucky is very friendly towards people, he loves to get attention.

Lucky also gets along well with the other cats and cat-friendly dogs in ‘the haven’.

We attach great importance to the safety of our SHE cats. A SHE adoption cat must be an indoor cat. Because Lucky has been used to the safe environment of ‘the haven’ since he was a kitten, this is extra important to him. A very well-sealed outdoor area or cat run is of course also good.

Otis

In April 2024, Kareema received a message from one of her regular taxi drivers. In the building where the taxi driver lived, a kitten had gotten stuck in the elevator door as it was closing.

The kitten was in very bad condition and was taken to the vet and operated on. After a week of intensive care the kitten came to ‘the haven’ where he has been ever since.

The kitten was named Otis by his first sponsor.

Otis is estimated to be born around March 2024. And therefore approximately 1 year old.

Otis had a broken jaw when he was found. He had surgery for this. He needed intensive care for one week after the surgery.

Now he is a healthy young cat, with no known health problems.

Otis is very friendly and affectionate towards people.

He will come and sit on your lap for a cuddle as soon as you sit down. He loves to be petted all the time. Otis gets along well with the other cats and cat-friendly dogs at ‘the haven’.

Like all SHE cats, Otis has had his vaccinations. These are against common cat diseases and rabies. He is also chipped and has had a deworming and anti-flea treatment. Otis is neutered and also litter box trained.

We attach great importance to the safety of our SHE cats. A SHE adoption cat must be an indoor cat. A very well-sealed outdoor space or cat run is of course also good.

Louis

December 2024

Louis is one of the gifts that Kareema’s husband occasionally brings home after a visit to the local gym.

When Kareema’s husband went to the gym, he found an old tomcat next to the gym. People there threatened to poison him, so Kareema’s husband took Louis home. The next day he was taken to the safety of ‘the haven’ and he has been there ever since.

How Louis survived on the streets of Cairo for so long is a miracle. He did contract FIV infection in years on the streets. So he is FIV positive.

Louis is estimated to be about 8 years old.

Louis is a very gentle and cuddly boy who loves to be petted. He gets along well with the other cats and cat-friendly dogs in ‘the haven’.

Like all SHE cats, Louis has had his vaccinations. This against common cat diseases and rabies. He is also chipped and has had a deworming and anti-flea treatment. Louis is neutered and also litter-box trained.
