Handsome Benny joined ‘the Haven’ early 2025.

Benny is handicapped, he has a deformation on both his hind legs. It remains unknown if he was born with it or if he has been hit by a car or motorcycle while roaming the streets of Caïro.

Luckily Benny is able to use the litter box well, he doesn’t need help emptying his bladder or intestine. Kareema Ibraheem, who runs the shelter, even thinks he would be okay with climbing stairs.

Benny is a very friendly, young chap that gets along very good with all humans and the other dogs and cats at ‘the Haven’. He is estimated to be about 12 months old at the moment. So he is probably born end of 2024.

Benny is ready to travel. He has been de-wormed, flea-treated, neutered, micro-chipped. And has completed all necessary vaccinations against common feline diseases and rabies, making him eligible to travel to the UK, EU, Switzerland, USA, and Canada.

For safety reasons, Safe Haven Egypt only adopts cats into indoor homes. This is extra important for Benny because he is handicapped.

Of course, Benny would love a secure outdoor space, like a cat-proofed balcony or enclosed garden area.

Who can give Benny a safe and loving home? If that is you please contact us. And take a look at our adoption procedure.

Duchess

Kareema, who manages the shelter, had been feeding a ginger cat in the neighborhood where she lives for some time.

At the end of July 2024, this cat had kittens in one of the buildings in this neighborhood. She received a phone call from someone in the neighborhood that the mother cat was not doing well. Kareema immediately took the cat to a vet, in all probability the cat was poisoned by someone from the building.

Fortunately, the mother cat recovered quickly. Kareema took her to her building, there was an apartment that was empty. In the apartment, Kareema set up a cage so that the mother cat could raise the kittens safely and comfortably.

Here the mother cat was given the name Duchess. Duchess is a super affectionate and active cat. She loves to be petted. Duchess is also said to be a cat that can get along well with children.

Once the kittens were vaccinated, the mother cat and her kittens were able to move to ‘the haven’.

Duchess gets along well with the other cats and cat-friendly dog in ‘the haven’.

Duchess is estimated to be less than 2 years old, her estimated date of birth is around April 2023. Duchess is vaccinated against cat flu, sneezing disease and rabies, a titer determination is done for the rabies vaccination because this is necessary to be allowed to fly. She is chipped, sterilized, deflead and dewormed. Duchess is litter box trained. Duchess can travel to Europe, England, the United States, Canada.

We attach great importance to the safety of our SHE cats. A SHE adoption cat must be an indoor cat. A very well-sealed outdoor space or cat run is of course also good.

Just arrived in Haven

It was the end of January 2025 when suddenly children stood in front of the gate of ‘the haven’ with Mooji in their hands.

The children saw Mooji being chased by a group of street dogs on the street and they saved her from the dogs. Then they immediately went with Mooji to ‘the haven’ where Kareema immediately took her inside.

We estimate Mooji was born around June 2022. Which makes her about 2.5 years old now.

Mooji is a very friendly and affectionate cat. Mooji is very people-oriented, she loves to get attention and to be petted. She is a master at giving headbutts.

Mooji is friendly towards other cats and the cat-friendly dog in her apartment in ‘the haven’.

As far as we know Mooji has no health problems. It is possible to test her for FIV/FeLV.

Like all SHE cats, Mooji has received her basic vaccinations. As well as the mandatory rabies vaccination. An anti-worm treatment and anti-fleas. Mooji is sterilized and chipped. And is also litter box trained.

Mooji has found safety in Haven. We want this to be the same with her adopter. That is why she must be an indoor cat.

Who can give Mooji a home? Is it you?
